Mud Mountain, Enumclaw, WA
This was the day that Sara got mono! Sara and I headed south to look for potential stops for a field trip on Lahar deposits of Mt Rainier. She got sleepier and sleepier through the day! Our final stop was this one at Mud Mountain to look for some lahar deposits near the White River. We finally found the outcrops and it was neat to see the large clasts that had been ripped up during the lahar event. Glad I don't live in Orting!

Ebey's Landing, Whidbey Island, WA
We decided to check out Ebey's Landing on Whidbey Island for a short hike along the Sound. What a nice place! We hiked out along the gravel beach (lots of great smells for Bella) and then climbed onto the bluff and returned back on the bluff trail. If my knee had been better (still got ITBS), we could have gone further along the beach, even all the way to Fort Ebey. The setting was beautiful with the sand bluffs rising out of the Sound, the gnarled trees, and cool little lagoon. If it had been clear out there would have been spectacular views of the Olympics. Hopefully we'll get back here next winter!
Distance: 3.5 miles
Vertical Gain: 200'
Weather: Gray and cool
Dog Rating: BEACHES SMELL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
